What is Specify?
Specify is a product design tool for the coding-agent era. It shows your repository as architecture diagrams and feature docs, turns what you review into improvement docs, and lets your coding agent read them over MCP.
How are the diagrams and feature docs made?
Connect a GitHub repository, then ask in chat: an agent reads the source directly and writes the architecture diagram and feature docs. Check the result against your current code, and add design intent the code does not show.
Does it update automatically when I push?
Only for the docs and diagrams you connect to a repository. On each push, an agent reads the change and edits just the affected parts; if nothing relevant changed, it writes nothing. Edit history and undo are available, and you can lock a document against agent edits.
How do I review?
Look at the diagrams and feature docs, ask questions in chat, and note what to fix. You can keep that review as an improvement doc, which your coding agent reads over MCP.
Which coding agents can connect?
Claude Code, Codex and local agents are supported, and the official docs also cover connecting Cursor and VS Code. Access is read-only by default; an agent needs the separate mcp:write scope to write.
Do we need to change our workflow or tools?
No. Keep your GitHub repositories and coding agents as they are and just connect them.
Are our code and docs secure?
All data runs on enterprise-grade AWS infrastructure with workspace-level isolation. We never train AI models on your data, and only approved members can see it.
How long does setup take?
Connect a GitHub repository and choose the sources to analyze. Processing time depends on repository size and connection status. Start with one repository and ask in chat for its first diagram.
